Cancer that forms in tissues of the uterus (the small, hollow, pear-shaped organ in a woman’s pelvis in which a baby develops). Two types of uterine cancer are endometrial cancer (cancer that begins in cells lining the uterus) and uterine sarcoma (a rare cancer that begins in muscle or other tissues in the uterus).
WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS?
- Post-menopausal bleeding
- Intermenstrual bleeding
- Increased menstrual flow
EVALUATION:
- Increased endometrial thickness on imaging
- Dilatation and curettage is required for biopsy.
WHAT NEXT?
Uterine cancer is treated with surgery, chemotherapy and radiation based on the stage.
